Planning a Wedding at Flora Farms in San Jose Del Cabo
There is a reason that couples from all over the world flock to Flora Farms in San Jose Del Cabo, even attracting celebrities and influencers alike! As another one of my most repeated venues, Flora Farms is a venue like no other. Set amongst the rocky desert landscape of inland San Jose, Flora Farms is a whimsical oasis of green lush gardens and incredible farm to table service! So here are all the details of plannign a wedding at this stunning venue!
The Venue Details
Flora Farms is most commonly known as a restaurant in San Jose Del Cabo, but to the left of the restaurant is a completely private event space called the Mango Grove that hosts the weddings! Guests will enter through a separate entrance than the restaurant guests and will have their own event spaces, bathrooms, etc- there is no crossover between the restaurant and the wedding space! The venue is 100% completely outdoors, so it is important that you pay mind to when the rainy seasons are in Cabo! The fee for the venue is a flat event fee + a food and beverage minimum that is based upon your guest count. The venue includes farm tables and chairs for 90 people in the reception space, it does not include ceremony chairs. If your guest count is above 90, you will need to supplement tables and chairs with outside rentals! Flora Farms has a strict 11pm cut off due to its proximity to residences, so an after party at a separate location might be a good idea if you want to keep the party going!
Accommodations
Flora Farms does not offer any accommodations for guests so it will be important that you set up a room block at a nearby hotel! I always recommend that my couples set up just 1 room block, as that will be easiest to coordinate when it comes to transportation for the wedding. Additionally, hotels in Cabo will usually not let you on the property unless you are staying there, so if you have guests staying at a handful of different hotels, it will be hard to all be together! I recommend looking at hotels on the San Jose side of Cabo and not the Cabo San Lucas side. The San Jose side is much closer to Flora Farms which means lower transportation costs for you! Some hotels on the San Jose side that I would recommend for a room block are: Cabo Azul, Grand Velas, Acre, Hyatt Ziva, and Viceroy.
Event Locations
The event space at Flora Farms is pretty straightforward, and although you can customize it however you like, there is a general set up that most weddings lean towards! The ceremony typically takes place amongst the Mango trees, down a long narrow grassy aisle. Depending on which chairs you rent, you can usually fit 4 chairs on each side of the row, 8 across total. This space is a fairly blank canvas, so you can do pretty much anything you would like with the flowers at the altar!
After the ceremony, cocktail hour is typically held under the big tree to the right of the barn, where the main bar is housed. Cocktail hour and the reception are a little bit of a shared space, so it will be important that your reception is fully set and ready by the time the ceremony ends! As I mentioned, the barn houses the main bar for both the cocktail hour and the reception. You have the option of using the in house “hay” bar from Flora Farms (which is what my couples typically do) or you can rent a bar facade to dress up the space if desired!
After cocktail hour, your guests will make their way to their seats on the main lawn where dinner is served family style. After dinner, dancing typically takes place in the same location as dinner, or you can move dancing to the Barn if you want to switch up the vibe! The iconic string lights over the reception space are included in the venue and make for the most magical backdrop as the sun goes down!
One final thing to note is that this year, Flora Farms added a bridal suite and a groom suite to the back of their property that can also be rented if you desire to get ready at the Farm instead of at your hotel! The bridal suite is fairly small, but conveniently located behind the barn and great for on-site getting ready pictures!
Outside Vendors
The only vendor that Flora Farms provides is catering/beverage service (which is phenomenal btw!), so this means that all your vendors will be outside vendors. The list of vendors at Flora Farms typically includes: photographer/videographer, ceremony chair rental, additional table/chair rentals, florist, music, fireworks, hair and makeup, cigar roller, dance floor rental, transportation, signage. Most of the vendors are fairly straightforward and will be familiar with the venue if they are local to Cabo! One important thing to note is for your transportation, you will need sprinter vans only, as busses will not be able to pull in/out of Flora Farms entrance! The vendor lists for our past weddings can be found at the bottom of each gallery page: Ashton + Blake, Jen + Scott, Robyn + Blake.
Things to do in San Jose
When people think of Cabo, they are usually thinking of Cabo San Lucas- this is where the Marina, night clubs, and major resorts are located. However, San Jose del Cabo is, in my opinion, even better than the San Lucas side. The San Jose side is known for being a little quieter, a little nicer, and has a little more charm! Downtown San Jose is one of my favorite spots to visit when I am in Cabo- it is small, quaint, and has amazing restaurants! If you make your way to downtown, you have to stop for dinner at Tres Los Gallos and then pop over across the street to Las Lupitas for some churros for dessert! A lot of my couples also choose to do their rehearsal dinners in downtown San Jose since the restaurants are so cute and so close!
