Amalfi Coast Town Hall Elopement

While location scouting for one of my recent destination elopement clients, I looked into Positano Town Hall as one of their possible elopement locations! It wasn’t easy to find all this information, and it included a lot of late night google searches, voicemails, emails, and even some instagram DM’s. However, all my hard work is now to your benefit because I am sharing everything you need to know about eloping at Positano town hall:

The town hall of Positano has an expansive terrace which overlooks the ocean and creates a picturesque backdrop for your I Do’s! It is fairly high up on the hill so the views are beautiful, but it will be a bit of a trek to get up to the venue itself! From the Positano town center, you can get to the town hall by bus (for which you will have to buy tickets beforehand), or just a quick 6 minute taxi ride! It is about a 20 minute walk from the city center, however that walk is almost exclusively uphill- so I recommend skipping it and taking a bus/taxi instead! Especially if you are wanting your hair and makeup to stay intact by the time you get to the town hall!

Positano Town Hall, also referred to in Italian as Comune Di Positano, costs 600 Euros to reserve for a ceremony. That cost covers up to 1 hour of access to their rooftop terrace, and in the event that it is raining, they also have an indoor space available! If you want more than one hour, the price is 1500 Euros and includes a prosecco drink for the bride and groom.

If getting married at the Town Hall, you will need to provide your own officiant. The price of the town hall does not include an officiant, so that is an additional cost as well (typically around $500). You are allowed to bring in outside flowers to decorate the altar, so long as you stay within your allocated hour.

When planning a wedding at Town Hall, you will also need to consider what type of ceremony you would like! The easiest way to get married in Italy is to have a “symbolic” ceremony, meaning that the marriage won’t be legal and you will have to legalize it once you are back in the states. It is possible to legally get married in Italy, but it is a complicated process with a lot of paperwork, so a symbolic ceremony is always recommended! If you are interested in legally getting married in Italy, I highly suggest hiring a coordinator in Italy to help with translating and filing the paperwork!

Lastly, If you want to get married at Positano town hall, you need to be aware of availability! Although we like to think of town hall weddings as spontaneous and carefree- Positano is a popular elopement destination, so their town hall books up a few months in advance, especially if during their high summer season! To schedule your elopement, you can email Comune di Positano at weddings@comune.positano.sa.it . I found them to be very responsive and easy to work with through email!
